The FWSCI has a common program


Goal of the program

  1. Ensuring   food security and sovereignty at individual, household, community and national level.
  2. Ensuring non discriminatory food and water availability, access, and utilization for all, with special emphasis on Women, Dalits and Adivasis.
  3. Ensuring  ecological and equitable balance in resource utilization and management.


Objectives of the program
A. Household and Communities-

  1. Improving production systems of the poor
    • Ensuring  access to factors of production
    • Conservation and enhancement of natural resources
    • Bringing equity in governance of natural resources
  2. Strengthening and diversifying livelihood options
  3. Ensuring social security measures as a right
  4. Statutory minimum wages are fixed and paid to ensure basic needs are met
  5. Improve education and skill building
  6. Health and sanitation for better nutrients absorption 
  7. Ensuring access to food security schemes


B. Organizational & Institutional-

  • To work towards developing a critical mass aligned to work on food security & water issues
  • To widen over time the mass of actors and institutions focused on practice based movements
  • Influence and direct thinking and action with local communities, PRIs, government academics and researchers
  • Enhance research and action on issues of agricultural production specially of rain fed areas

 
C. National and International-

  • Develop critical understanding on domestic, bilateral, and multilateral trade policies and negotiations which influence food and water security. Further facilitate in taking informed decision.
  • Develop critical understanding on governmental, intergovernmental and corporate decision that result in climate change which impact on the food and water security ; Further facilitate individual and collective measures to combat climate change.


Strategies  

  1. Coalition  building and mapping of existing expertise. Further creating spaces for contributing through these  expertise based on prioritisation of emerging issues.
  2. Capacity building of partners through peer review and networking
  3. Building linkages and capacity building of local government institutions
  4. Influence political agenda through lobby & advocacy.
  5. Links with research institutes, to facilitate research and collecting and sharing knowledge
  6. Gender balance and equity as a cross cutting themes at all levels and activities
